The Turkey Oak - Next Steps

Standing proudly on the Village Green since its planting in 1902, the Turkey Oak, a species prone to disease, had to be cut down in 2024. Residents said they would like a lasting reminder in the form of a carving or similar. Part of the trunk was saved (approx 2 x 1 meter) and has been drying out. It is now ready for potential carving.

You may have an idea ; you may have seen various carvings in our area - have you seen Mr Frog in Melton Park? Have you seen the Stag Deer at Bradgate Park? Or more abstract sculptures or Benches.

There are lots of options and we want to hear from you to see what villagers would most like and ideas for funding.
